Lecomte was a student of his famous father, the painter Paul Lecomte Sr. (1842-1920). He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He often painted in both oils and watercolors with an Impressionist style He used soft, muted colors to create paintings that had a tranquil and peaceful quality. He painted landscapes, portraits, and seascapes. His subjects are commonly serene harbors, markets, and pastoral rural scenes, many in Brittany and Normandy. His paintings have exceeded $10,000 at auction. Lecomte also produced striking aquatint etchings resembling watercolor paintings in their appearance, of which this offering is an example.
This aquatint etching is hand signed in pencil in the lower right. It is presented in a natural tan wood frame with a grey silk mat and a thin dark inner mat.
